ASTD Awards the Northeast Ohio Chapter
Chapter of the Month Honor

Akron, OH, June 2008 – The Northeast Ohio Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development (NEOASTD) was named an ASTD Chapter of the Month (COM) for June, 2008. The COM is national recognition for ASTD local chapters that have demonstrated strength, growth, and innovation in managing their chapter.

Nancy Seebert, a member of ASTD’s Chapter Recognition Committee, which awards the Chapter of the Month honor, said, “This award is a top honor that recognizes the NEOASTD’s work to provide members with excellent professional development opportunities, networking, and leading information about trends in the learning field. The Northeast Ohio Chapter is setting a best-practice example of the value of membership in ASTD. We are pleased to recognize the chapter with ASTD’s Chapter of the Month award,” Seebert said.  

NEOASTD collaborated with the Greater Cleveland Chapter in a joint effort to promote Employee Learning Week (ELW).  This effort included creating an online forum and placing a link on both websites to educate people about ELW as well as share ideas and best practices.  The chapters raised awareness of ELW by coordinating with local governments to obtain signed proclamations in recognition of ELW.  Both chapters held programming and provided “ELW Toolkits” and gift bags.  The toolkits provided electronic files to allow members to quickly implement ELW initiatives in their workplace.
